Just tested this with 1.8.2 and it works. Admin clicks on the link in reported content and is taken to the message.
We have another ticket (I think on the 1.8.x milestone) for improving reported content.

Hi would just like to emphasize how important this is. Its a major issue on my site since I can not effectively prevent spam without it. When someone reports a spammer but I can't tell WHO the spammer is they are reporting, or verify that the report is even true, then I have to ask them for details in a follow up email I can not verify which defeats the point of a Report This function. My suggestion is to include the details in the actual report, so you can see it even after deletion, as opposed to pulling it in dynamically. Frequently users will report a message then delete it.
