Description
I have the latest SVN trunk and when I try to send a message using messages 1.7 the "To:" field is blank (no values in the drop down) so I get an error message "You did not select someone to send this to".

I am sorry I think I was not clear enough. I have the members plugin as well activated.
When I goto members plugin and find someone I would like to be a friend. Below add a friend is a button send a message. I then attempt to send them a message.
I am not able to send a message to the person because they are not my friend. But what if I want to make sure it the person and send a message to them to make sure that is the correct person.
So basically can you send a person a message if they are not your friend but you click send a message from their profile..

I now understand what you are reporting and will check into this.
Works for me. Do you have any "friends" on your test site?
